Kevin's
Words at Oliver's funeral
![]()
It is a shame the first chance any of you have had to meet Oliver is at his funeral.
I was going to say what expectations we had for Oliver, the days we planned together, but I don't need to say anything, you know those are the sorts of things any parent would want.
Today is not really about Cathy or myself but about Oliver.
Cathy and I loved Oliver and he knew us although he was only 3 days old. He recognised us when we spoke and became agitated when we left him. It was hard to leave him at any time.
He was a fighter even before he was born he often give Cathy a good kick if their was something he didn't like, even myself at times! After he was born he often was kicking off his nappy and giving a good cry when something wasn't right. He was the perfect baby for us.
On Friday 20th September his life came to a tragic end, the exact circumstances of his death as yet are not known, an inquest is to be held to understand what went wrong.
Oliver lived for 3 days and some may be asking what did he live for.
Oliver's life will count for something. As parents, even in his death it is our responsibility is to ensure his life means something, Cathy and I will do our utmost to ensure this kind of accident will never happen again once we understand went wrong.
We will remember Oliver as a happy baby, I hope for those of you returning to our house you will take the time to look at some photos we have of Oliver. We want you to know him and remember him as a newly born baby rather than the what you see here today.
Thank you
